Glass Matters: The Architectural Impact of Glazing

In the increasingly popular village of Lower Stondon, a striking double storey extension has been created with a perfect blend of beauty and functionality. This extension features an awe-inspiring glazing centre piece in the new dressing area and a thoughtfully designed box window in the snug. Together, they exemplify the art and science of modern architecture.

The purpose of this build was not only to increase living space for our clients but also to introduce eye-catching features that transform the home into a luxurious retreat. In this article, we will look at the exceptional engineering behind the glazing centre piece and how these unique features have enhanced the entire home's design.

The Vision

Designing any extension involves us understanding the homeowner's aspirations and lifestyle. Our clients wanted a space that took full advantage of their beautiful views -while flooding their home with natural light, seamlessly blending indoor and outdoor living. Our in house Architectural Designers and Technologists along with our engineer translated our clients vision into reality.

The Glazing Centrepiece

The glazing centrepiece is at the heart of the new bedroom dressing area, promoting a sense of openness and warmth. Its design maximises natural light and provides stunning views of the scenic surroundings.

The cranked steel centerpiece, a defining feature of this remarkable build, has been installed to seamlessly support the architectural glazing in this extension.

Enhancing Interior Space with Design

The visual appeal of the new dressing area was just as important as its engineering. By incorporating expansive glass panes, the designers created an illusion of greater space and an inviting atmosphere.

Our clients have thoughtfully selected soft ambient lighting paired with a striking feature piece to complement the glass structure and high ceilings while elevating the sense of luxury. These subtle yet impactful design choices play a key role in making the space both practical and welcoming.

The Unique Box Window

The snug area features a distinctive box window that frames the view and floods the space with light, this design not only adds charm to the home but also provides extra seating and a cozy nook for relaxation.

The angled design maximises light penetration, ensuring that the snug area remains bright and welcoming.

The glazing elements were carefully fitted by www.alspecwindows.com who we have worked alongside for many years.
