CASE STUDY TEN
ST ALBANS - RENOVATION
Take a large St Albans Victorian town house, and make it bigger, that was the brief. These delightful cottages often enjoy large gardens but suffer from lack of kitchen space, so it makes a lot of sense to extend. Especially when you have a growing young family to accommodate!
HET's instruction was to create a spacious bright kitchen breakfast room, whist stealing none of the light from the airy living/dining room. By building over a small side passage, see how the experts generate oceans of light by this clever and original use of roof fenestration.
There's now oodles of space for cooking and eating, and a great place to start the day. Patio doors now lead to a really handy decked sitting area outside. Another very successful project completed for this young family, and a victory for modern design.
